Remarks
- too many instruments at the beginning I think. I have a feeling the flutes and glock won't be heard over everything I wrote. Maybe a flute/trumpet duet in the main melody?

- I also have a problem with the sousie/bari sax notes on the and of 4 before measure 3 and the and of 4 before measure 5. At 3 the bari/sousie is a C while the Tenor plays a D on the pickup. Each sound right alone and compared to the original but it bothers me on sibelius when they play together. Also at 5 the notes may be to low for bari/sousie and again they play an A while the tenor plays a C. somewhat a chord matchup but still sounds funky together.

It still feels like something is missing as a whole from the piece. It seems to progress through the stages too quickly and just sort of end. I really like the beginning intro. The middle feels short and undeveloped but to an almost un-noticeable point. The end is okay and will probably sound better with an actual pause and ritard.

Also I don't know what to call the cymbal thing at the beginning. I want one edge of the cymbal to be pushed along the inside of the other cymbal from the middle out. It's a common drum corps thing and sounds very nice in a small setting.

I agree about your third comment- The song doesn't seem to go anywhere, and I think that just might be a characteristic of the song and not the arrangement. There really is only one chief chord progression that repeats over and over and over.. there really is no bridge or much deviation from the main theme.

As far as the arrangement goes, I've never heard the original recording of this piece, but the arrangement sounds tonally correct and it sounds good.

Hope you don't plan to march in in 7/8. =)

Hah, definitely no 7/8:) If any moves it'll be during the 4/4 stuff or one step per 7 beats (measure). I think I'm going to double the beginning, add an oboe and bassoon, and have it build more. The oboe sound would be very oriental for that section. As for the main stuff I don't know what to do...
