Well, there are a few general comments that I can make on this arrangment thus far:
1) You've written the tenor sax's really low, make sure this is really where you want them, 'cause they're awfully "honkey" down that low.
2) You've got some very low notes in the sousaphone part that won't come through at all- you probably mean to have that sousaphone part written an octave higher than you have written in. The effective notes in the sousaphone start at about an Ab (3rd ledger) and go up to about an F or a G in the staff... it depends of course on the song and what tone you're looking for.
3) There's a lot of sections resting a lot of the time in this piece-- I know that the piece doesn't call for a lot of loud in a lot of places, but anyone resting for too long will get bored.
4) The PDF was confusing to read.. for marching band I use a score order of: Flute, (glock), Clarinet, Alto, Tenor, Bari sax, Trumpet, mello, bone, baritone, sousaphone, drummer. That way it goes from high to low (sort of) and makes for an easier read.
5) You've done a good job translating this piece from the original. As I said earlier, the original isn't too up-beat or interesting (Things that help to make a good marching band tune). The arrangement might sound fine musically with the band, but I couldn't see a crowd getting fired up to hear it -- it's not the arrangement at all though, it's just that the song is very laid back and mellow (and since when have you seen or heard of a mellow marching band?) :) Strong work though.

"(and since when have you seen or heard of a mellow marching band?)"

I don't know, when was the last time Berkeley was in town? (though BORING might be a better descriptor)

I rather liked it. It wasn't the mellowness that I found a problem (Go Back Home, White Rabbit,...) so much as the length of the piece and the fact that there wasn't a lot of variation throughout the song (the same themes kept popping up).

A couple of ideas:
1. you could try speeding it up to between 160 and 180. I tried adjusting the meter on the midi and thought it sounded really cool when played faster.
2. or you could try cutting out some of the repeated sections.

I don't know the song particularly well, but my civilian partner immediately recognized it.

You will have to change the instrument ranges. I had e-mailed Dan about adding a section to the website that shows each instrument's preferred ranges and the transposition from the actual pitch. Once we have something together, I think it'll be much easier to get the right ranges.
