1. the clarinet/flute part near the end is a killer, but accuracy is not really essential since the original just has a piano gliss at that point anyway.

Interesting.. one musical note that caught my ear was the F# in the bass in bar 14.. sounds kind of odd and I was expecting to hear the Eb lead to a D instead of an F# -- it has been a while since I've heard the original though so you may want to keep this to stay true to the original. I think because this song only has 2 major themes that it would be better used as a time-out length tune instead of a full-length song. Also, the tempo of the song is not very marching-friendly so there's another reason for making it a timeout tune. It'd be interesting to see how these voicings realize themselves within the band..

Thanks for the comments! I agree with your assessment that this couldn't be used as a marching song due to it's tempo, but then it was arranged with UCSD in mind, so marching it won't be an issue. I mulled over the idea of modifying the current arrangement to fit it as a Davis timeout song. Eliminate intro to B and cut M to F (then fix up the transitions with a couple of alternate measures). This would cut the time from 2:00 to 1:20, then playing it a touch faster than the original brings it under 1 minute. If the Aggies are interested in having this as a timeout or before basketball game song, I'll make the mods as needed. Granted, since I'm down in SD, I won't be around to push it, so it's kind of on the Ossifers shoulders if they're interested.

One thing would really make this tune fly: double-tounging the whole thing a-la the original (yeah right). If not, it might be beneficial to have some parts split up some of the long notes into say [eight, sixteenth, sixteenth, eight eight] etc.
