This was my first flight to Columbia Airport (O22) which is nestled in the Sierra Foothills near Sonora, CA. The trip there from RHV was pretty straight-forward. We flew TO (035) the Manteca (ECA) VOR from RHV and then FROM (055) ECA to O22. The airport is fairly easy to locate. We just followed the river East from the lake for a few miles. The airport was very busy when we got there, and as I was entering on the 45 for 17, FOUR experimental plans flying in formation called inbound on the 45 as well. They saw me first apparantly because three of them darted in front of me on downwind and the fourth decided he couldn't fit and opted to fly in behind me. Because of the busy pattern I had to fly a considerably extended downwind leg but all was good. Density altitude was around 4000' but there wasn't too much performance degredation. Once there we visted the little town there which is a mile's walk on a well-kept path. On the way back we got some good pictures of the Manteca Waterslides.
