Ethical Guidelines (Draft)
for arrangers at sonicspike.net
The arrangement revision system at sonicspike.net was created so us arrangers would
have a place to learn and share our work with each other. One of the most important
concepts behind this system is the free exchange of information between artists.
However, with the free exchange of information comes issues of fair use and permission
that must be addressed in order to ease the minds of the many hard working arrangers
that contribute content to this site. Please read and understand the following
guidelines regarding the material presented on this site.
Use of Material
Whenever you're considering using an arrangement from this site,
remember that somebody put many hours of hard work into it. A vast majority of
the arrangers at sonicspike.net would love to have their arrangements played
in as many bands as possible, but we ask that you please contact the
arranger for permission to use their work before performing it. Also,
please give credit to the arranger whenever possible.
Battle Etiquette
Huh? Battle? If you're not familiar with the term, then it's certain you haven't
had any exposure to the Cal Aggie Marching Band-uh! at the University of California
at Davis. When the UCD band gets together with another band at a sporting event or
otherwise, they often trade songs back and forth "Battle" style until one band
eventually runs out of music (no song can be repeated!). It would be very poor form
to play an arrangement from this site that was written by a member of the opposing
band. We ask that you keep this in mind when selecting your songs.
Compensation ($$)
You may not receive any compensation for the use or performance of material
posted on this site that is not your own without prior arrangement from the
arranger. The exeception of course is made
for non-profit organizations (such as college marching bands) that perform
and receive charitable donations for their performances (although these
organizations should still contact the arranger for permission to use).
